Jack, The factory data plate was normally on the hat shelf. Mine was on the port side of the hat shelf, directly behind the pilot about halfway from the baggage compartment to the back.
If the hat shelf has been modified or removed for a large baggage compartment, it should have been moved to some other visible location. If you have the N-number, it may be all that's needed to tell the serial number. Ed
