Yes, Nick, you absolutely still do have to have an A & P mechanic with an IA do 
your annual, and an A & P sign off all work done on the airplane other than 
owner maintenance items.  This is true of all certificated aircraft.  
Homebuilts, on the other hand, can be annualed by the builder if he/she has 
earned their Repairman's Certificate.  The only difference that the Sport Pilot 
license makes is the elimination of the Flight Physical.
