Nick,
www.sportpilot.org should have answers to most of your questions.
Look on the left for info on "Pilots," sub-category "Current
Pilots." And in "Aircraft" you'll see the variety of ways that one
can satisfy the aircraft requirements (existing certificated planes
like the 'Coupe, S-LSAs, E-LSAs, etc.)
One important point that I don't think has been made yet: if you are
a PP who chooses to fly as an SP, you need to *abide by the limits*
that the Sport Pilot Rule places on flying (e.g. no night flying, no
Special-VFR, not over 10,000', etc.)

What do I have to do to be " legal " as a sport pilot .and what do I
have to document with my coupe.
