If you visit the local airport, look at how the incoming airliner's wing
lights telegraph their motion.  The bank angle is instantly seen.

 

Watching a small Ercoupe fly inbound to the airport or in the pattern,
you get the same effect.  I think it enhances safety.

 

I'd thought that, if I replaced the light fixtures on the gear legs, I'd
put one light in each wing.  That is, if I could afford the cost of the
work.  It'd probably cost more than mounting the light in the nose bowl.

 

If you do go with the nose bowl mount, and, if you decide on old
fashioned filament lights instead of LEDs, try to set the fitting so the
bulb filament will be vertical.  I've heard that greatly reduces the
rate of burnout due to vibration.

 

I wonder what the brightness is. . .
