Mine has the black sunshield with the same set-up. I'm balding and enjoy the protection from the hot sun. It was advertised when I bought it by the previous owner in 2004, as having the "bubble" windshield, which may be an indication it was not original with my 1946 415C later modified to a "D". I'm not knowledgeable enough in Ercoupe genesis and evolution to know. I do know that it has other improvements and additions from the original as well.

I think it is original equipment, but I seldom see others with this. Is it just an aggravation to entrance and has been removed, or was it ever standard equipment? With my bald head and living in a sunny area, I need the protection, and it looks like it would help keep the cockpit cooler when parked, I am considering adding some more tint in the form of the plastic film type. Comments?..
