The sun shields were an option as far back as 1946. I don't know about the prewar Ercoupe's. If you look in your aircraft records on the CD from the FAA you will see the original equipment list and it will show if it came that way or was added later. The bubble windshield is a later design that many earlier Ercoupe have been fitted with. It has nothing to do with the sun shield.
