I have a 1946 415C with an 85hp Continental engine and this question is from my mechanic, in his words. "When replacing the old rubber 3/8 hose from the firewall to the gascolator, I used a 837-6 aeroquip 45 degree fitting at the firewall and a 823-6 45 degree fitting at the gascolator and aeroquip 303 hose. This combination with the hose length for best clearance, the hose still comes about an inch from the heater shroud. An 822-6 90 degree fitting at the gascolater would give more clearance at the heater housing but would be much harder to attach the clamp required for the two stabilizing tubes that are required at the gascolator. I have considered a simple heat shield fabric over the hose, but it would then be hard to see the hose during preflight. I actually think the clearance is ok as is, but I'd like some input from other people who have made this change to the aerotquip fittings". Can anyone give us some advice on what we should do?
Thanks, Dennis
