There is a very comprehensive write up of the coupe charging system in the Oct. 2008 issue of Coupe Capers. Reading it may help to understand what is going wrong if you don't get it solved with a suggestion from  here. I installed a volt meter in my coupe and now disregard the ammeter. If the reading is about 14 volts I know that it is charging. It doesn't tell the charge rate, but it lets me know that something is coming out of the generator. My ammeter is on the far right side and is difficult to see.
