In the Garmin manual for the 696 on page 136 Appendix A: DATA FIELD OPTIONS, we find the "• External Voltage—the voltage on the external power input (cigarette lighter receptacle)." listed . >From the manual on page 30: Changing the information shown in the data bar fields: 1) From the Map Page, Terrain Page, or the Info Page press the MENU Key. 2) Turn or move the FMS Joystick to highlight ‘Change Data Fields’ and press the ENT Key. 3) Move the FMS Joystick to highlight the desired data field. 4) Turn the FMS Joystick to access the list of options, then turn or move the FMS Joystick to highlight the desired option and press the ENT Key. There is also an image showing how to select the voltage. Good luck. I should never have sold my 196. Unfortunately maybe I don't know how to do it. I can't seem to get volts info on my 696. You did a great job of showing how to do it to the group.
