I should have noted that the information below is from a thread here,
concerning the approval basis for the installation of an O-200 onto a 415C.
What I would do is run it by your FSDO for prior approval, then get the 1320
lbs STC, install it, intall the O-200 engine and prop, and thengo flying!

A friend and I researched every last 0200 equipped 415 we saw for a while.
Although most were actually converted D models with the STC, I did find a few C
models with 0200 installations. One just used the STC, which in my opinion was
not valid, since the STC clearly stated it was for a D model. Two were done
with nothing more than a 337 stating simply "removed C75 and installed 0200
engine". I suppose that satisfied the owner, but quite questionable in my book.
I do agree that using the STC directions for the D model, and upgrading to the
1320 GW STC, would be an almost automatic approval, I am an A&P and had decided
I would attempt it in that method if I found a good 0200 laying around. I have
since decided that the 0200 crank/pistons upgrade to my C85 will be the route I
follow. It seems to me that the 0200 is not all that powerful, and seems to use
a lot of fuel for the HP, and the crank and piston conversion does a better
jub. This is my opinion only, comments of people who have been there, done that
welcomed!
