Attached is a picture of the gascolator with the remains of the Curtis valve.
The gascolator seems like an aviation product, it has the capability of being
safety-wired. The valve is a standard Curtis valve and does not seem to be any
different from what is on my gascolators.
The mechanic disassembled the gascolator and found nothing inside.
I would have expected to find the disc on the end to remain inside the cup
because it is larger than the orifice it blocks, unless it broke into two
pieces. just my guess. These are the conclusions of the mechanic and pilot, not
the aviation authorities.

Now if I can just figure out how to attach the picture....
