A friend dug this out of his dad's old garage and asked me to research it. He is interested in selling and will appreciate suggestions as to a fair price and will consider offers. I have looked for a part number, but have had no luck locating one. I poured in 5 gallons of fresh cleaning solvent to flush tank and to check quantity. Fuel ran out of overflow with 5 gallons, it will not accept 6 gallons. No apparent leaks from the tank, but I am not sure about the filler neck attachment. The interior of the tank had a small amount of dirt inside, which seems to have flushed out ok. Viewing the inside as well as I could with my handy-dandy Harbor Freight Wireless Inspection Camera shows no evidence of visible corrosion or sealing compound. The interior baffle appears in good condition. The tank measures 6-1/4"h X 23-5/8"w at the rear; 4-1/4"h X 17-7/8"w at the front; 14" front to rear measured on the top . The filler neck is 2-1/4"d X 1-5/8"h. There is a wire around the filler neck with a lead seal with what appears to be the number 12 stamped into both sides of the seal. This tank appears to have been previously mounted in an aircraft as there is what appears to be old, dry contact cement used to attach chafing strips. There is a dent on the left side, which is visible in one of the photos of the bottom. I just uploaded 2 more photos of the dent, which will be in the album as soon as they are approved. Any feedback to confirm or deny that this is an Ercoupe 5 gallon stainless steel fuselage tank will be appreciated. Any feedback as to a fair selling price will also be appreciated. If you are interested in making an offer or purchasing, please contact me off list. I will probably list it on ercoupe-trading- post and/or possibly eBay in the near future. Thanks in advance to all for your expert opinion. FLY SAFE! AIM HIGH!
