"Pénaud continued to study the laws of airplane longitudinal stability. To 
compensate for the effects of propeller torque, he installed additional weight 
on one of the wings. Later on, he resolved the torque problem with by twisting 
the wing's airfoil (known today as wing wash in or wing washout). 
Date was approximately 1871.
