Actually, you've got it reversed. The "C" dataplate is the original.
The "D" dataplate is a conversion tag, part of a Skyport conversion kit,
and should be installed next to, not in place of, the official tag.
Note that the "D" tag has the Skyport Aircoupe Services" mark at the
bottom. this is not a legal dataplate must be accompanied by the
original. (Many conversions were not done this way and the original was
removed and lost or destroyed.)
