Mac,

I think you may have misunderstood John and me on the starting procedure.  
Pushing the primer while cranking works well in cold weather, but is not 
necessary if the temperature is above 50ยบ.  Using the throttle while cranking 
does nothing due to the fact that the Stromberg carburetor has no accelerator 
pump.  Just set your throttle for about 1/8", prime once or twice, and then 
pull your starter.  It should start right up.
