Hi Brian, The format for each polyline in dxf files exported by ER Mapper is as follows:
POLYLINE 8 100 62 19 66 1 0 The polyline group codes in the AutoCAD online help confirm that ER Mapper is not exporting the height attribute for each polyline. If the height attribute was exported, the format of each polyline would appear as follows: POLYLINE 8 100 62 19 66 1 30 100 0 where the polyline's group code 30 represents the polyline's elevation. This problem will be rectified as part of the fix to ER Mapper's dxf export to correctly export height attributes. Currently, when opening the .dxf in AutoCad (Map2000), it creates layers by elevation value, but places all of the entities on the 0 layer. The format for each VERTEX in dxf files exported by ER Mapper is as follows: VERTEX 8 100 10 474857.429000 20 3656686.000000 62 19 0 I have checked the Vertex group codes in the AutoCAD online help, and confirmed that ER Mapper is not exporting the height attribute. If the height attribute was exported, the format of each vertex would appear as follows: VERTEX 8 100 10 474857.429000 20 3656686.000000 30 30 100.000 62 19 0 where the Vertex group codes 10, 20 and 30 are used to store x, y and z(height) coordinates respectively in DXF files. I will provide you with an estimate next week of when we can fix this problem. Ermapper 6 > We generate the elevation model of a .txt (X,Y,Z), then we generate contours and we save them to vector layer to export them to format dxf with the option export layers (all), but when opening the .dxf in Autocad the contours have height zero (0). When exporting the contours to .dxf the attribute of the height is taken as name of the layer. The question is: How exporting the contours to .dxf and when opening the file in Autocad the contours they have their corresponding height, to see it in 3D.
