Dear Sir, I had such experiences for several time in my job. And there was no problem to do that because PCI will maintain the projection system when we do importing image data from PCI to ER Mapper. Or another word, PCI automatically keeps the projection system belonging to dataset importing to Er Mapper.
Try to do that using utility (image utility)_importing data and fill up all available options. Best Regards, Mustakim GIS & Remote Sensing Division PT Blom Nusantara Jl. I can only say you may add elevation data manually if you can save your ArcView or dxf file in *.erv format. -Save your vector file as *.erv - Open "Annotation Tool" Bar - click on one of topo contour - click "ABC" button on toolbar while topo contour chosen - enter its elevation value, press "Apply" button - choose another contour and enter its value via "ABC" Button It is quite time consuming procedure but resulted *.erv file can be used as input for gridding wizard. From the menu File>>Export to... , hit the "Select" button next to "Destination" file, name your file and select ER Mapper Raster from the "Save as Type" pull down menu. If the program has not already, change or add the extension ".ers", hit "Save". In the main Export Dialogue box, make sure that your input and output files are correct, and that the "Output Format" says "ERS:ER Mapper Raster" in the pull down menu. In the "Exportable Items" box select all the bands by picking or hitting the "Select all" button. Hit the "Add" button to transport the bands to the right window, then hit the "Select all" in the right window, and finish by hitting the "Export" button. Open ER Mapper, locate your file on the hard drive, select it, hit the "Info" button on the file open dialogue box, then coords, and change the .ers file to the correct datum and projection. This should work; I have done it a few times without any problems. If you have problems with the bands, (i.e. trying to make a RGB image), then save the file again as an ERM raster set (.ers) and select the "Delete all transforms" button. I have not done this with Spot images. Good Luck, Leo M. Romeijn Geodetic Positioning Service, Inc. 121 Hawkstone Rd. Probably the easiest solution is to assign only one field (say, 'height') to the .dxf file in the CAD or GIS software you used to digitize or to process the vector file. That field will contain the height per each of the contour lines in the dxf file.
