We tested the KISS III constant pressure propulsion section today. The
test was far from ideal, but we verified what we needed.

The data acquisition unit just refused to work, a DATAQ that we bought
just for testing the KISS engine. I have the new data acquisition
hardware on hand, but it was not ready for today's test, and the old
unit worked fine last time we tested. We still do not know what went
wrong with it. We ended up using eyeballs and a digital camcorder on
gauges for measurement. For those that haven't seen them, Dave W built a
bunch of little analog electronic boxes with digital displays that we
use for operations. A very simple arrangement that hasn't failed us yet
(as long as the batteries are fresh ;-).

The first two tests were a little less than desirable, but we finally
tweaked the propellant tank pressure and the pressurant regulator to
give us the necessary thrust on the third test. After the third test we
declared success and went about packing up and doing some propellant
purification work. Got 3 more gallons of "good stuff" from our process
this week, which just happens to give us plenty of peroxide to fly KISS
III.

We have a little more work to do before we can fly KISS III, but one
shop session should be enough to be ready for an early November flight.

Dave
