I am with John C. on this one. This young man was clever enough to find a source of information (this list) that could provide real guidance. I commend his perseverance.
I also differ on the relative dangers of HTHP versus some of the other things one could muck around with. As a matter of fact, the reason I would encourage him to persue another propellant is the difficulty in obtaining hydrogen peroxide at the 80% plus concentration needed. But if he could, an HP monopropellant motor is a relatively straightforward affair. Sugar propellants are a good alternative, and there are several good sources of information like Richard Nakka and Jim Yawn's websites. There are also the SugPro and aRocket email discussion lists. Folks on those lists are probably not interested in playing the role of teacher, but most are happy to answer questions from someone who shows enough care to try and inform himself with good research before asking. -Dave McCue Resources: http://www.nakka-rocketry.net/ http://www.jamesyawn.com/rocketry.htm To subscribe to the lists, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with either of the following in the body of the message, depending on the list you want to join: subscribe arocket subscribe sugpro -30- On Sat, 11 Jan 2003 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I also played with various pyrotechnic mixes in high school, and they > are infinitely safer than a liquid rocket engine.
