Hi Andreas,
Were now thinking of making an Xenomai user-space application that directly uses the EtherCAT Master module. To access the process data we want to integrate the PdServ library. Will this work under Xenomai? Thanks Dirk From: Andreas Stewering-Bone [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: vrijdag 1 juni 2012 12:15 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [etherlab-users] Using Etherlab on a Xenomai system Hello Dirk, for only EtherCAT this will work of course. Please have a look at the devel branch. There is experimental support for rtdm in userspace. I think the RTAI skin is not supported for future versions of xenomai, but i do not know exactly. EtherLAB <=1.3 is prepared for kernal space usage. Xenomai does not like the Kernel mode. Andreas Am 01.06.2012 12:00, schrieb Dirk Castelijns: Hi Andreas, Thanks for the response. We dont really have a special need for a dual kernel system. Its more like a constraint. We are adding EtherCAT functionality to our customers system which is Xenomai based. I have read at different places that Xenomai supports an RTAI skin. Shouldnt this work with Etherlab? But Xenomai has no math libraries for kernel space. So there is no chance. Do you have a special need to use a dual kernel system.? If not you can use the actual devel branch of etherlab >=2.0 which uses a preempt-rt kernel. We have a Xenomai system where we want to add EtherCAT functionality. For this I want to use the EtherCAT Master software and the Etherlab software together with Simulink RTW/Coder. Installing the EtherCAT Master software was no problem. Etherlab requires RTAI sources and a kernel patched for RTAI but our kernel is already patched for Xenomai, so is this going to work?
