Very well put ideas Brian, keep them coming!

Your idea about adapters is very nice, but how do you envision
passing your objects to the many available adapters (and where do the
adapters live on the environment)? If there are adapters for any
possible file type the place where the adapters are put could get
very crowded... Or you see it as one system wide adapter that proxies
your objects to the file type specific ones? If so, how can you
select a specific adapter if there's more than one associated with
that file type?

About tools loaded within documents... When you load a tool inside a
document, is the tool permanently loaded in it? I mean, can you share
the document with the tools embedded in it ? (for other Etoile users
only of course) I see this could help a lot when sharing files where
the other person doesn't have that tool installed or it's not the
same exact version or something... There are problems to think about
like security or disk usage (it could be an option when exporting the
document?).
