>WOB: gd66-7-16;gd66-7-17 >2 complete shows fit on 1 cd. ---- Although no specific dates are given, these shows are represented on the live disc of the first set of discs in the "Golden Road" box set...
now, is it still OK to trade these shows, since no dates are listed on the CD? Somehow, I don't think so. I would really like to hear people's opinions on this. I taped these shows off of the GDH back in '92 when the tapes were first discovered (which is an interesting story in itself; why it's not detailed in the notes for the box set, I don't know)...at that time, Gans/Latvala and Co. seemed pretty certain that the dates for this stuff were 7/16 and 7/17...but now that the box is out, they don't specify days, just "July 1966." But upon listening to the CD, it becomes readily apparent that this is the same material that was broadcast on the GDH (with many tunes omitted, but some others added). The first clue is Bill Graham's introduction at the beginning of the disc. I don't think that this material should be traded since it's now officially released, regardless of the fact that they seem reluctant to assign an official date to it. PLEASE discuss this further! I'd like to see us come to a consensus (which seems harder and harder these days). john PS- Please leave the newbies alone! PPS- Newbies- Please lurk and learn!
