absolutely true, however on etree it is shn and shn only. Those of you who
said mp3 is on topic are wrong.

from etree.org

"Messages that may be considered off-topic for the etree.org discussion list
include:
* Anything not related to music or computers
* Discussion of lossy audio formats (MP3, Real Audio, etc.)
* Discussion of warez and other illegal things

So this discussion is over right?
Thank you.

(and to those who said that mp3 is mostly noticable in low frequencies, I
humbly disagree. mp3 distorts all frequencies that are not "musical" (music
notes have a mathmatical relationship which is very useful in perceptual
encoding which is the basis for mp3)
for example, with clapping hands the sound is spread unevenly across the
spectrum which confuses the encoder. Drums and cymbols sound characteristics
are similar. This is why mp3 sbds sound much better then mp3s of audience
recordings, the audience recordings have so much more ambient
noise(screaming clapping a/c units and so forth) that the encoder cannot
accurately recreate it. As a result you get.......that's
right...Distortion!!!!! (and not the good distortion you get from slamming
good quality analog tape)

but I digress because this is way of topic.

Love to all
John
