Agreed. To each his/her own - however, this list is a shn list and mp3
is not shn. My $.02 - I got a copy of Grateful Dead 02/14/70 Early show
in mp3 format a couple of years back. It is perhaps my 2nd favorite
show to hear. I can notice obvious mp3 artifacts- especially in the
shimmering sound of the high hat - but I still listen regularly. I'd
love to hear the shn copies, but only two people in db.etree.org are
showing as having it! The best copy of the show you want is the best
copy available to you! I haven't asked to get [what I guess are better]
copies - I'm just too busy to jump through any hoops and I still love my
copy, even with its "problems." I wish this show would circulate.
Until then, I'll hold my mp3s. I have a hundred or more mp3 shows I
collected before I discovered the advantage of lossless distribution. I
rarely listen to any of them now, as I have replaced most of them with
shortened copies of the same or better sources.
