I'm in the process of setting up my second Linux server which will be
connected to the Internet at 256k DSL. What I am wondering is, *why* do I
need an isp as WELL as a DSL connection to run a web server? Or do I?
When contacting uswest to ask them why I can't forgo the isp charge and
call myself an isp, they said I can, that the only real extra charge I am
paying is for the Gateway connection.. I just need to figure out how to
own my own Gateway.
I'd do more research on this issue on my own, but once I enter "gateway"
on any search engine, you can imagine the thousands of pages I get in
return.
Can anyone shed some light on this condition?
Thanks,
james
