I'd go with eug-lug, or EUG-LUG, if only because there are already
lots of ELUG's from Edinborough to Edmondton and beyond. I can't see
caring about "preferred" pronunciation (I'd better not, when I'm not
consciously worried about it, it's LIE-nucks). I'd keep the hyphen if only
for the mnemonic to the mail-list.
I'm gonna miss Charles Schultz, even if he's the reason I'll never
pronounce Linux "correctly" without thinking.
