It's not really the jobs of the window manager, methinks, although most of
us _would_ like to see it integrated into our favorite wm's...
I haven't seen XF 4.0 yet, maybe they deal with it better there.
I understand there's a lot of new helpful abstrctions built in to the new
xserver, making video and HW acceleration simpler...
NEW QUESTION: well it's not new really, but,
HOW do I get the xmatrix to run on the root window, background, of my x
session???? I asked this before at a meeting, and got the gist but not
the details... AFAIK, both xlock and xscreensaver have a -display option,
but they won't let me pipe to root... what is the name of the display I
want, or how do I allow the program to access that display ...
assuming also -nolock, or whatever's needed to make it run un-obtrusively.
Solutions much appreciated in advance!
My friend and I have been playing with enlightenment, and we both highly
endorse eterm (which also works with other wm's), and especially making
all window frames invisible and the background transparent to the root
window. I'm also curious, should anyone know, about running xflames
or other graphical tweaks. Oh, if you use eterm, remember the
ctrl-rightclick and alt-rightclick to help access the functions without
the window frames being visible... enjoy, it's sweet!
