UCITA was finished after the Oregon legislature adjourned last year. The next session begins in January 2001, after the General Election in November. Like everyone else who follows the issue, I am concerned about the anti-consumer bias of the proposal. More than half of the Attorneys General oppose UCITA as it is now written for that reason. Because I am running unopposed for State Representative in District 40 (South Eugene and Greater Goshen), I expect to be there next year and I expect to oppose the bill if it is introduced. Any help the lug can give will be useful. I will let you know if it comes up. Right now, as you know, it is pending in several other state legislatures especially Maryland and Virginia. I haven't heard much news lately, but passage anywhere could be a problem for anyone who buys software programs. Phil PS: I have been a lurker on this list for months. I still use mostly Gatesian software, but I have one linux box I am experimenting with slowly (Other things take up most of my time). I enjoy reading the posts especially those about local resources. I ran out several months ago and got a DSL connection because of recommendations on this list. Keep up the good work everyone.
