yes, the CMOS memory is small.  it contains at first the manufactures
default settings and then is modifiable.  most of the things there, are
changeable but are beyond me.  the important thing is the harddrive
configuration.  everything else can be left alone usually.  just save the
changes when you exit and forget them.  for the last many years, well since
the 486 appeared, the BIOS will automagically determine the stuff it needs
and I like to use the HD autoscan feature.

whenever I install or remove some hardware from my systems, I check the CMOS
at first and then forget it.

LindaC, thinking: worry less, once setup the CMOS will remember until the
battery goes dead or the motherboard fries.
