^Q quits minicom and leaves the phone connected. It's an easy-setup way to dial and then quit, leaving an open connection to the other side that you can start ppp on. I did it for about a year to connect to my dial-up ISP. If you are using minicom in X (xminicom), it doesn't use the keys the same way that it does in the console mode. I think you just type ^-key, where in console mode you type ^A key. --Mike
