Linux & Mac's Help?

My brother-in-law who is pretty new to computing has inherited a
Performa631CD.  I'm not real sure but it looks like it has about 8 megs of
RAM and a 350 Meg hard drive.  I was just about to reformat and reinstall
the original software when it occurred to me that maybe this is something he
could use to get started with Linux?  Any possibilities there? Any info
would be appreciated.  Thanks, John Morrison
