The Performa series is not a 'Power PC', which I believe is required for
Linux. Basically, it does not have a math co-processor (FPU or Floatimg
Point Unit as Mac calls it) and the Power PC does. Some Performas had the
Power PC (68040)chip but that series had 4 digit numbers in the model...
like 6100CD. You have what is referred to as a 68K machine. It's been
awhile since I have dealt with macs, but if Linux will run on a 68K
machine, then you are in business.
