software written on or for a linux system. most GNU software, for instance.
not ports, generally (OpenSSH is one that likes /opt...), but in my experience
(very little, admittedly) i have rarely seen a program look for or even try to
install into /opt when i compile.

hey, uh, OpenBSD has a cool fish now... but something is still bugging me. i
looked through everything i could find on their site last night, and i still
can't tell if the kernel supports the advanced features of the ATI Radeon. if
not, that's cool, i can always keep linux around... but i remember saying i'd
try OpenBSD when they had a cool fish.

speaking of which, i have to get one of those "chix dig openbsd" shirts... no,
i'm not an instant advocate, but the pimp blowfish is just too good to pass
up... and sending money to a good cause and all that.
