Rob,
I keep forgetting to mention. You probably do not need a laptop to make your
linux based wireless access point. You can get a pcmcia card reader for your
pc ( I have one, I think it was about $50 after shipping). and I dont think
you actually need to have pcmcia. It seems to me Ive seen internal wireless
NIC's, and by now there may even be USB wireless NIC's
