You mean an Ethernet hub?  They're not compatible.  The Dorio uses
RS232 at a signaling rate of 9600 or 19200 baud, and the hub uses IEEE
802.whatever at a signalling rate of 10 or 100 megabaud.  The unit of
data on RS232 is a byte; on Ethernet it's a packet.

You can get a terminal concentrator that lets you attach 8 or 16
serial devices to an Ethernet, but it would cost more than the Dorio.

I haven't done it with Linux -- old disk drives are easy to come by.
A hundred years ago I had a diskless Sun 3.  It was too slow, so I put
a disk into it. (-:
