I think the Linksys cards use the tulip driver. Although Linux kernel 2.2 had support for tulip, I seem to recall that tulip support in the 2.4 kernel is better. Early on there was 2.4 support for Potato, but I think that now if you want a packaged 2.4 kernel, you need to move to Woody. If you're brave, have a fast connection, and can burn CDs, you might want to try the Woody version of the Progeny Debian installer (PGI or piggy) sometime. The latest is at: ftp://ftp.cs.umn.edu/pub/debian-misc/progeny/pgi/woody-beta-20020619-i386.iso or check their web site at: http://hackers.progeny.com/pgi/ All in all it sounds like you have things moving along. Well done.
