You jumped lists, Jamie, I posted to Activism and you replied to EUGLUG! I don't think the techies want to hear about politics and philosophy, if they did they'd join the [Liberation/Free Software] Activism list.
Talking about the evil of cars, I just read this article about GM's fuel cell technology which I found quite exciting. The vehicle doubles as a portable power plant for homes in the third world. Too bad it's not an open source design. I don't trust GM to develop it in the people's interests; like Microsoft, they will distort the technology to serve their own corporate agenda--to amass more power and control. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/10.08/fuelcellcars.html?pg=1 Thanks for your comments, but I disagree; the operating system IS the problem. Capitalism rewards the most selfish, shortsighted, and greedy and punishes the most innovative, visionary, and altruistic. It drives people to ever-lower levels of dehumanizing slavery so as to maximize profits for the rich and powerful--the most dishonest, unethical, and destructive members of society. It's the code of the socioeconomic OS that gives them this unfair power over others. We have to come up with better software if we want to set our fellows free and save the planet from further environmental destruction. Universal Family Love will be the new kernel of the Revolution OS. Let the greedy try to hack that!
