Linux conversion path.....I need suggestions

I am running a desktop publishing operation on a G4 Mac but am migrating to Linux on a Intel deck.

I hope for conversion complete in 24 months. The reinvestment costs of my commitment to the Adobe line up of Pagemaker, Premiere, Photoshop and Acrobat are financially harrowing, AND

my Line up of Linux programs still falls short even with Star Office and Gimp.

If you look at a series of programs that goes from text and graphics to paper and electronic publishing you see an obstacle course Linux still can't run.

Do this:

Take this List:

WordPerfect 3.5e---------- "What Linux Program?"
Pagemaker ---------------- "What Linux Program?"
Photoshop ---------------- "What Linux Program?"
Graphic Converter -------- "What Linux Program?"
MacLink Plus ------------- "What Linux Program?"
Acrobat-Distiller -------- "What Linux Program?"

Then ask yourself of each of these:

"Can the Linux Program import from and export to these the Mac OS 9.2/OS X or Windoze Programs----effortlessly?"

Until the list is matched and the question is answered "yes" I can't pretend to seriously move over to a Linux Platform.

This is the way it is.

Yours
Harald Sundt
