I decided to go with courier-imap (and -ssl) instead.

UW has no configuration file! If you want to change some settings you
have to edit some file, then recompile! Give me a break. Also it
doesn't have any good performance for any formats that use directories
for storing mail. No Maildir support.

Courier works with Maildir format, which exim supports. It also
requires much less memory than UW. Mutt likes it too. With UW mutt
took a few seconds to log in, I'm not sure why.

Since I have an existing mail filter, I'm also using it as a router.
Mail for some users is sent to an exim server on linux. For everyone
else it is sent to an internal exchange server.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob.
