Well, then they're not being compared thoroughly.  How sure can one
be that appearances are "real"?

Yeah, so use readcd to make an ISO file from the CD.

Well, if you're going to use dd in a script instead of readcd,
why not do it all the hackish way?

My point is, by using the right tool to begin with, there's
less of a chance of error.  readcd knows more about your CD
than dd does.
