Gee, Ben! Aren't you delighted to know that Beaker and I are getting a KNOPPIX presentation ready for you? We're planning to cover hard disk installation, how to get a root shell when there's no root password, and saving your work to a floppy or a DOS directory, among other things. Since you're in a hurry to install KNOPPIX on your hard drive, here's how. (I haven't done the dual boot part, but it should be obvious to an experienced Linucian like you.) It's actually easier than installing RedHat, unless you use RedHat's automatic partitioning. >From the K menu, select KNOPPIX -> Root Shell. (Oops, that's one part of our talk. (-: ) From the root shell, type knx-hdinstall. Answer the questions. Partition your disk. Watch it run for a while. Answer some more questions. Reboot from hard disk. Smile. Knoppix includes apache and squid proxy, though they're off by default. We didn't check on samba. -- Bob Miller K<bob> kbobsoft software consulting http://kbobsoft.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Eug-LUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.efn.org/cgi-bin/listinfo/eug-lug
