Your offerings are full of value and appreciated, Ben.

You brought up a point that as linux becomes more prevalent, companies will
likely become more dependent upon the resources of their local lug groups.
However I think most of the contribution from the lug won't be any different
than it is today. Petersen-Arne has gained a lot from Euglug, but through
me as the medium. Similarly Tim's company and yours also benefit from
euglug. This is much different than a company coming to euglug and saying,
"Hey guys how about you come set me up a linux network for free?" uh..
We'll email you if you like, but if you want onsite service hire one of us
as a consultant. Currently euglug is not setup to facilitate helping out
businesses for free except charitable/non-profits/schools on a volunteer
basis or via membership on the email list.

I don't know where you were in 2000. Look at this link for the old minutes
that were posted to the list:

Looks like here is one of the first times I actually showed up at a clinic
Oct 12, 2000. I was running multiple screen savers as my background
at the same time and Tim wrote down how to do it. I still have this
laptop!:

Those were pre 2.4 kernel and pre 4.0 X days, when the anticipation was so thick
it could be cut with a knife!
