You realise that he can't actually deliver on most of his promises unless
he makes a power grab that would startle even the Bush administration, do
you not?

I see three possibilities:

 1. He knows this and is being dishonest.
 2. He doesn't know this and is ignorant of the powers and limits of the
    job.
 3. He intends to push his agenda, whatever it takes.

Do you really want someone who is dishonest, clueless, or dangerous in the
office of the president? (One might argue that the alternatives are no
better, but then I'm not likely to support the alternatives in that case
either..)

The comment above regarding the likelyhood that you may not vote at all is
an interesting one. There are three factors in modern US politics: doing
the right thing, making money, and represnting your constituents. They
are, for the average politician, ranked from least to most important.

Question: Why are issues such as retirement and medicare always at the top
of the political debate forcing what many of us consider to be larger and
much more important issues to take a back seat?

Answer: Because people, once they retire, tend to take up hobbies like ..
following political discussions. They vote, too!

In the 18-24 and 25-30 age ranges, I hear a lot of people tell me that
they don't believe their vote matters, so why bother voting? Well, as
long as the majority of people believe that and, therefore, do not bother
to vote, the politicians will continue to be unconcerned with our opinions
since pissing us off isn't going to cost them the election. Think about
it. Then go out and convince someone to register to vote and make them
understand why they _need_ to vote.

As a person with what passes for a life, but is more likely just a
boatload of homework, I will refrain from playing crossfire on this list
with a bunch of lefties and the occasional libertarian.
