What happens if you boot a perfectly generic kernel, say, a KNOPPIX
CD (-: ? If the KNOPPIX CD won't boot without the TV card, then
maybe you've set a magic BIOS setting, and resetting the BIOS might
help. It could also be an NVRAM setting on the main video card --
is there a way to reset that card?
If a generic kernel does work, then try booting the generic kernel
with your root disk. ("knoppix root=/dev/hda1" might work.)
Then you'll know whether the problem is in:
kernel
filesystem
BIOS
hardware
