I haven't read up on vkeybd yet, sorry, but in my understanding of MIDI,
you will indeed need a synth device, of some sort. You'll prolly just
want to run a software synth in parallel; I kinda thought that running
those midi modules gave you that but honestly haven't played with midi
at all. Try to play back some midi files (.mid's) through another
program; if vkeybd is just acting as a midi input, it wouldn't have
sound-generating capabilities, just signal-generating ones (like
key-down, key-up, pitch bend up, etc). Keep up informed of your
progress, and good luck,

   Ben

| I guess it's possible vkeybd needs a synth to read the MIDI events,
