I have experience with older hardware, but nothing at those speeds. Typicly the main issue is overheating, but there are other considerations... since your ram is aparently fast enough, the other considerations are your video (ram and CPU on video), I/O controller/HDD. My guess is if you tried a better video card, you might get more, but then you may also have I/O issues You might also see if you can put a thermistor on your video chip, and see if its overheating.
