Just out of curiosity, why are you expecting Microsoft to provide you with a driver download for your 3rd party hardware? I know that they do provide updates for some built-in drivers via WindowsUpdate, but not for all cards by any means. Particilarly not old, rare, PCMCIA hardware.

Linux does have an advantage in that (in my experience) the older and cheaper the hardware is, the more likely it is that some poor hacker was forced to use the hardware, and wrote a driver for it.

Windows is the opposite. Since the drivers are provided by the mfgr, there's no reason for anyone to write an XP driver for a card that hasn't been sold in 8 years. It's not generating them any revenue any more, what reason do they have to spend their money paying one of their developers to write an up-to-date driver for it.

I'd give up on the old beast. You can get USB or PCMCIA adapters for almost nothing these days that will work with windows (and Linux of course) right out of the box. It's not worth your time looking for something you're probably not going to find.

I looked around, but wasnt able to identify a way of finding a driver. i tried the search feature, but it didnt find anything useful.
