But when I speak of using an OS, it's almost always to use it in production.

I think of general features mainly (but not exclusively) in terms of
drivers and subsystem support (USB2.0, Bluetooth, and Firewire for
example).

If I recall correctly, they spent a good two years auditing code after
splitting from NetBSD, before making an OpenBSD release. I've browsed
the OpenBSD source extensively. I don't doubt their code quality.
