BofA has absolutely zero concept of security. Without going into detail, I have it on good authority that their "high-tech" electronically-controlled *physical* security infrastructure is vulnerable to infiltration by anyone who is barely literate. I shudder to think of what their network security must present to a determined attacker.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that they are installing Windows(!) on machines which dispense coin of the realm.

Largely as a result of this sort of vulnerability, I have no respect for their process or their professionalism, and I don't expect I'll ever bank with them.

Mr O crafted these words on 06/30/04 18:33:
Machines that shouldn't be running Windows... The new ATM's
installed by BofA. Makes me want to switch to a lesser evil. I
only use BofA for convienance.

Incidentally, ATMs and POS systems are even being connected to
the
internet these days, and these are the typical disconnected
systems. Of
course, many of these Internet-connected highly sensitive
devices are
running Windows, which makes them a lucrative and easy target,
but I
digress.
