--- Try a USB WiFi card, you may get the performance and reliability you seek. My previous recommend to avoid USB Wifi cards comes from my personal observations and reports from many others. You can easily return the USB card if it does not meet your needs. Whichever card you get try to match the cards chipset technology to your neighbors router technology. Go for a 802.11g card minimally. Be sure to implement WPA2 (avoid WEP). If you're running Windows XP be sure to install the WPA2 update released in May. Sidenote: On a particular Windows XP machine I'm using a IEEE-1394 based Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV Video capture box with good results. (Pinnacle was recently bought out by Avid). This solution may help you free up a PCI slot. Not sure if you require hardware MPEG-2 playback hardware support in same package, but you may want to utilize a AGP video card, if not utilizing your AGP port already (or use an AGP based ATI Wonder card or similar). This may free up a PCI slot for you.
